As you know I always welcome questions about anything affiliate and internet marketing related here on AffiliateTreasureChest.com. This morning I got a great question from Catherine who has a new blog that doesn’t get a lot of traffic yet. She asks:

 I would like to know how to drive traffic to my blog. I do use PLR. I am putting my first free report on it this week.  Thanks for your help.

Great question and I’m sure she’s not the only one that could use more traffic to her blog. I know I am always looking for more ways to drive traffic.

Let me quickly cover some fast ways to get traffic to a new blog and then we’ll dive into specific traffic strategies in more detail in the coming days.

Getting Indexed

My first goal when I set up a new blog is to get it indexed quickly. Once your blog is indexed regularly you can start to rank for long tail keywords in the search engines. Here’s what I do to make sure I get indexed as quickly as possible.

1) Set up a Good Ping List – Take a look at my how to ping a blog post for directions and a list of ping services you want to add to your blog.

2) Set Up Permalinks – You want your permalinks to include the title of your post. Take a look at this blog post for example. Do you see how “how-to-get-traffic-to-my-blog” is part of the url of this page? You can set your permalinks in the settings of your blog. The token you want to use is %postname%

3) Blog Regularly – For the first few weeks it is very important that you add new content on a regular basis. A daily post is ideal, but even 3 new blog posts per week will work. You can use the wordpress scheduling feature to write everything on your own schedule and then have the posts go live in regular intervals (i.e. once per day or every other day).

How Do I Ping My Blog

One of the reasons wordpress blogs are so popular with the search engines is the fact that you can ping servers all across the web to let them know that you have updated your blog. This results in new pages being indexed by the search engines much faster – and if you did your homework (a.k.a. keyword research) – in quicker rankings in the search engines.

Which of course brings up the question: “How Do I Ping My Blog?”

You can ping your blog two different ways. You can do it manually, or you can utilize the automatic pinging tools that comes with most blogging software. Let’s take a quick look at each method.

Manual Pinging:

Let’s start with manual pinging. This simply means that after you’ve written your new blog post you go out to one of the pinging websites and manually enter your blog url and ping various servers.

One of my favorite sites to do this on is Ping-O-Matic. It’s quick and easy to use as well as quite effective. When you get to the site, all you need to enter is the name of your blog  (TIP – use your main keyword in the name), your site url as well as your feed url. Here’s what the filled out form looks like:

Below that you will find a list of services to ping. I recommend you leave it at the default settings. Click on “Send Pings” and you’re done.

Other sites you may want to consider to ping your blog manually are:

• Auto Pinger
• Feed Ping
• Feed Shark
• Pingler

Doing this manually each time you blog can become a bit tedious though and it’s easy to forget. That’s why I recommend you automate the process if possible.

Automatic Pinging:

Another option (and the easier one if you ask me), is to set up automatic pinging on your blog. Most blogging platforms allow you to set up a ping list or at the very least check an option that makes sure at least one of the pinging sites is notified anytime you make a new post.

In a wordpress blog it is very easy to set up an extensive ping list which is something I highly recommend you do. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Log into your wordpress admin area.
2. Go to your settings. This is one of the last links found in the left sidebar of your blogs admin area.
3. Click on the “Writing” link under settings.
4. Scroll down to “Update Services” and paste the list below in there.
5. Click on “Save Changes” and you’re done.

The Jamuna River (Bangla: যমুনা Jomuna) is one of the three main rivers of Bangladesh. It is the main channel of the Brahmaputra River when it flows out of India into Bangladesh. The Jamuna flows south, ending its independent existence as it joins the Padma River (Pôdda) near Goalundo Ghat. Merged with the Padma (Pôdda), it meets the Meghna River near Chandpur. Its waters then flow into the Bay of Bengal as the Meghna River.^[1]

The river's average depth is 395 feet (120 m) and maximum depth is 1,088 feet (332 m).^{[citation needed]}

The Jamuna was a barrier in establishing a direct road link between capital Dhaka and northern part of Bangladesh better known as Rajshahi Division until 1996. This was mitigated by the completion of the Jamuna Multi-Purpose Bridge.^[2]

DELETING  BACKGROUND

As with anything in Photoshop, there are several ways to delete the background. One way is to

use the Extract command. To do this, use Filter > Extract. Your picture will open in a new

window and you will be given a circle tool which works like a magic marker. 

First draw loosely around the part of the picture that you want to keep. Then grab the paint

bucket from the upper left corner of that window and fill in the part that you are keeping. Click

What the Extract tool does is to search in the green part for edges. If you need to be very

precise and there is not much contrast between your subject and your background, this may not

be a good way to do it, because it may delete too much.
